About 1st and Tabar Events
1st Conferences in Melbourne and Adelaide are brought to you by the team at Tabar. We are a group of professionals who are active leaders in the Australian agile community. Our model is based on Community Based Learning. We help companies become learning organisations by giving their people the opportunities to learn and network with the best events, training and community meetups.
1st Conference is designed for those who seek to enable a culture of agility in their workplaces. These people may be early in their journey and be from fields that may be newer to the concepts of agility. They can also be people who are well versed in the field, and who want to revisit the key elements and principles agility that may have become obscured. To this end, we are inspired by Dr Alistair Cockburn’s, Heart of Agile, and we were the second event in the world to be organised with reference to this framework.
Other events
LAST Conference was started for experienced Lean, Agile and Systems Thinking practitioners. Spark the Change, is an event concerned with meaning and purpose in the workplace. We organise and sponsor meetup groups in the agile community. We also curate a calendar of training courses from the best minds in the business, from Australia and around the world.

Diversity Charter
We value diversity, and aim to reflect the community that we serve. Tabar’s events are signatories to the Diversity Charter. We actively provide support for less experienced presenters in order to encourage new and different voices to join our lineups. We also actively seek out people who may not directly submit proposals.
Code of Conduct
1st Conferences share a Community Code of Conduct adapted from our sister event, LAST Conference.
We have developed this community code of conduct to actively set expectations for the LAST community and to promote safety and inclusiveness for all participants.

Everyone participating in a 1st Conference, including, but not limited to the Conference event and Conference online channels—is required to agree to the following code of conduct. This includes all contributors/participants, session leaders/speakers, supporters, and volunteers.
1st Conference organisers will enforce this code during its events and throughout the year. We expect cooperation from everyone to promote and sustain a safe, diverse, and welcoming environment.
The short version
1st Conference is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.
Sexist, racist, discriminatory, or harassing language and imagery is not appropriate in the 1st Conference community, in person or online. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the 1st Conference, online channels (e.g Slack), and all future events without a refund at the discretion of 1st Conference organizers.
The longer version
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are required to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in any of the aforementioned behaviour, 1st Conference may take any action they deem appropriate, from warning the offender to immediately expelling the offender with no refund.
Reporting and Enforcement
If you feel you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an organizer or volunteer. If you can’t or don’t wish to speak in person, or prefer to talk privately or electronically, contact us 1stLAST@tabar.com.au or by direct message in Slack or Twitter.
All reports will be handled in the strictest confidence.
At a Conference event—contact Conference organisers, a or a Conference volunteer (identified by a event staff t-shirt) immediately. Conference staff will be happy to help assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.
